Here is something a little different for me. This is the interior illustration for a band CD project called "Autocondo." I was given the concept of a future when we have run out of oil, and people are living in condo's made of cars piled on top of each other. (Not too far fetched perhaps.) So this is one image of four. My very early influences are coming out here, my fascination with Disney background paintings and comic books.

The Wixletree is a work now in progress. Living amongst the roots of the Wixletree were the Nibs, the artists musicians and writers who recorded the life and history of the great tree.

Here is a drawing I rather like from a work in progress called "The Wixletree", a graphic novel.

Two more character sketches from "The Wixletree" part of the intriguing "dark side".

This image from "The Wixletree" shows the canopy of the tree where the aristocracy parade, pontificate and peruse their domain from viewing platforms that the tree itself has created.

This poster was created for V Con, the Vancouver  S F and Fantasy Convention which I attended in October 2007 as the Artist Guest of Honour.  The actual dragon himself has been around for awhile, since 1985 in fact when I was working on the cover for Guy Gavriel Kay's "The Wandering Fire". After working in inks for many years, I wanted to make a change and decided to try using acrylic paint. This portrait of a curious dragon was the result, my very first "real" painting. I had always wanted to find a use for him, and as the good folks at V Con liked the image I began to work up a composition that would fit his piercing gaze. As I am now comfortable in the digital realm, I was able to "knit" together, the dragon, the landscape and the girl on the horse to create the final image. As I didn't have time to paint the foreground figures, my daughter Miriam agreed to render them in gauche, which is like water colour only with white added. So this is our first printed collaboration.
